We are a small stud, with no lofty aspirations, just a simple philosophy of
breeding alpacas that are productive. The current market for alpacas is stud
based, with high prices resulting from the limited supply. Alpacas breed
slowly - one baby (cria) every year - so demand is likely to exceed
supply for many years, and the national herd size will be such that a
fibre-based market is still some time away. But there is a market that does
not require economies of scale - alpacas as
sheep protectors. It is this market that will receive our initial focus,
without neglecting the fibre aspect of our animals.
