2005
It's August 2006 when I write this, so it will be brief...
The house
The house is liveable, with all services connected. A lot of bits and pieces still need to be finished. Anita is studying is Melbourne so the move has been postponed, or possibly cancelled. I'm not happy about keeping alpacas while not living on the property, but will persist for now.
The alpacas
Two additions to the herd with Maynard arriving on the coldest and wettest February day ever and Truffles arriving in May.

Victory!!! I won the Easter competition

The house
The slab went down in March, the frame went up in April (thanks Greg) and was finished during May and June. The roof went on in August, the cladding took September and October, and the interior was started in November. At the end of 2004 we still needed to finish the plastering, painting (Anita's job), sewerage and fit out the kitchen/bathroom. Hopefully we will be moving in February.  Greg and Wesley put the frame up
The alpacas

Four babies and four purchases brought our numbers up to 18. Marcie was born in February, Lucy in October, Sophie in November and Franklin in December. We bought Romona, Nazrin, Nirmala and Aztec Lilli.

Geniveve missed her due date of May, finally giving birth to Franklin (Samm is probably the father), weighing in at 9.6kg and growing to 16.6kgs at 4 weeks old. Kathy also lost her pregnacy mid-term and is now due in May 2005. Our next cria are expected in February from Nirmala and Emi.

2003

When Anita arrived in Australia in September 2002, she wanted a dog. I was not so keen about this as we intended to:
1. Renovate our home in Geelong
2. Sell our home
3. Move to Melbourne
4. Get jobs
5. Buy a house in Melbourne
In between selling in Geelong and buying in Melbourne we would be renting, and it is significantly harder to rent if you have a dog.

One day we were out driving and saw some alpacas - Anita was in love and it would be a simple matter to keep one on our property at Bagshot. We soon found out that we would need two, so it was decided to get a wether and a breeding girl. Ideas blossomed, plans changed, and suddenly we were going to become alpaca breeders and build a house on our Bagshot property.

We bought Kathee, Sokks and Samm (all unregistered) in February, Geniveve in March and Emi in May. Geniveve had a boy (Charlee Brown) in April. In October we bought Rosenberg (greys are Anita's favorite), Phoebe and Pal Joey.

Kathee had a baby boy, Pigpen, in late November, so we ended the year with ten alpacas.

We scored our first blue ribbon at the Bendigo Show. When we bought Phoebe she had already been entered in the show. We agreed that Rod and Ann could still take her and we are very proud that she got a blue ribbon.

Pigpen reflects on his first week of life

On big decision we made was our stud name - Delta Star. We wanted to use star because the tow strips, which we use for hang gliding, form a star when looked at from the air. This was not available, so we added delta, which is the shape of a hang glider.
